Welcome to the month of March 2020! I’m telling you right now that this feels like it’s going to be an amazing month! And, based on the memes (and one powerful coloring page) that showed up for you this month, it will be.
Let’s dive into the theme for this month which comes from one of my favorite people, Jeanine, Lebsack, if you don’t know her, look her up… she’s remarkable. You can actually hear her on a two part series on my other podcast, How in the Hell did I get here in the episode called From Breakdown to Breakthrough and stay tuned for more to come from Jeanine.
Jeanine’s sage advice for this month is that it’s just better to accept the apology you have not been given. Isn’t that beautiful advice? People, this is the month to let that shit go and by shit, I mean all that crap that you’re carrying around with you that pick and prod and you and yet you won’t let go.
You know what I’m talking about right? Those small and maybe big slights, broken promises, hurts, embarrassments, any of that stuff.
The universe is saying to you now: it’s just better to accept the apology you have not been given! It’s just BETTER… better for you, better for the people around you, better for the planet, better for the universe… don’t you want to be part of that? Let it go… when people know better, they do better and sweetheart, it’s never about you, it’s about the other person… you want to know when it becomes about you? When you hold onto and make it about you… so let it go… accept those apologies that weren’t actually given. You can do this…
THE TOOL FOR THE MONTH: Write a letter to anyone who you feel as wronged you and really let yourself go with how you feel. When you’re done do a ceremony releasing all that pent up stuff by either tearing the letter into small pieces, safely burning it, or pour water over it and see it dissolving. Give yourself the apology and give yourself peace.
WEEK ONE: Moving into the first week of the month, which runs from March 2-8. The theme is simple: Why fit in when you we’re born to stand out? Who are you hiding from? Why do you care if you fit in? What has fitting in really gotten you? What would happen if you stick out? What would happen if you were yourself? What would happen if you were vulnerable, real, alive, the real you?
Now, let’s think about this… if you’re afraid to stick out, to be you, to expose yourself, have you ever considered that not only are you doing yourself a HUGE disservice, you’re also doing the rest of us a huge disservice… why is that? Because when you aren't being yourself, we can’t get to know who you really are… this is why so many times someone will come out as themselves and the people who are close to them will walk away from them… they walk away because they liked and thought they knew the person who was not being true to themselves.. It’s a tragedy all the way around in may ways and also it’s freeing as you find out who loves you simply for being you and who loved you or cared about you conditionally.
I’m not saying that any of this is easy, and I am saying it is really worth it.
THE TOOL: The challenge is to stick yourself out there a little bit in whatever way that looks… be yourself and see what happens (and if something amazing happens be sure to let us all know… either in the Facebook group or send me a Facebook or Instagram DM or email email@example.com We want to know and celebrate any way life improves from this podcast!)
WEEK TWO: runs from March 9 to 15th and the theme comes from Martin Luther King, Jr: Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.
This is such a beautiful reminder… I like to think of a dark room...if I bring in an unlit candle, nothing change, if I light that candle, the dark is now made light. What candles could you light to illuminate the dark parts of your life or mind? Providing light, allowing light, bringing light is all a kindness to yourself and others.
THE TOOL: Focus on where you can bring more light into your life (this is just really building on the them for the month of accepting things where they are)… it’s all about letting stuff go, lightening up...literally and figuratively. Do something nice for yourself or better yet, yourself and someone else… and concentrate on bringing and being the light. You’ve got this.
WEEK THREE: Woohoo, check out what showed up for Week Three which runs from March 16 to March 22nd. Breathe Motherfucker, which is a quote from the breath-master and world record breaker many times over, Wim Hof in regards to his amazing breathing method, known as the Wim Hof Method… if you want to learn more about him, do a YouTube search and if you’re interested in trying the technique, DM me for a session. I can help you get going on the technique and be your accountability buddy if you choose!
So, this week is about remembering to breathe! Really in whatever way that looks for you, obviously I’m a proponent of Wim’s method, but you might just want to work on noticing your breath this week… are you sighing a lot, are you breathing shallowly, do you have allergies or asthma happening, do you feel like you are breathing easily in every sense of that?
THE TOOL: Focus on your breath when you think of it and if you feel moved to go further with breathing, contact me, research on YouTube or use a technique that you already know about. The other part of this challenge is to look at the artwork when you’re breathing and to literally breathe in those words of support! Enjoy this! Have fun with it!
WEEK FOUR: The month ends on an affirming note: If it’s happening, you can handle it, of it wouldn’t be happening. This last week of the month runs from March 23 to March 29.
There’s always stuff happening right… good, bad and otherwise. The key to dealing with what’s happening, I’ve found is to accept the truth in this week’s quote, that if it’s happening, you can handle it, of it wouldn’t be happening. I mean, really, that is the 100 percent truth… we can’t stop time and there’s really very little we truly have control over, so what happens, happens.
And, it’s a lot easier to manage when you can really take in the fact that if it’s happening, you can handle it, of it wouldn’t be happening. Really. Now, this doesn’t mean anything at all about HOW you will handle it… you may be handling some things with ease and grace and others maybe not so much and you know what? That’s okay! You’re human… we all are and I know you’re doing the best you can, no matter what the voice in your head or anyone around might say.
THE TOOL: Write and send yourself a thank you note… like literally go to the store and find the nicest thank you card you can and then write yourself a thank you note for handling all you handle, address it to yourself and pop it in the mail. Extra bonus: Add a fun gift card to the card while you’re at the store! You’re worth it!
